Why Mengele: Preserving History AS IS

No doubt about it, Josef Mengele was a heinous, heartless bastard.

“Mengele used Auschwitz as an opportunity to continue his anthropological studies and research into heredity, using inmates for human experimentation. His medical procedures showed no consideration for the health, safety, or physical and emotional suffering of the victims.” (See References, below)

However, let us please keep his memory and heinous legacy ALIVE in order to ensure NO ONE EVER duplicates his work in whole or in part on ANYONE EVER AGAIN.

For those tender-hearted Facebookians* who would delete this entry, I ask you to please consider what’s worse:

A) Remembering a rather horrid history

B) Repeating a rather horrid history

C) Watching far worse ideas on some 20% of the TV shows available on any given night via all major broadcast, cable, and Internet carriers

*Aside: Thank God this exists here, and not Facebook, lest it’s existence be in question!

Logic Experiment

Lest anyone portend false alarms about A corrupting our youth while ignoring the far greater likelihood of repetition B given C, let us dispense with such false pretenses and finally accept that revising, much less excising, history in any way, shape, manner or form is FAR more likely to result in repeats of horrors and atrocities on you, me, ours, mine, and everyone else’s than A, especially given the fact that those ignorant of A are far more likely to witness C then commit B.

If you didn’t follow that, then please read it again. It’s logically sound. If, after reading it multiple times you continue to disagree with it, then I would argue it is you who are not logically sound, and given the nature of the subject matter at hand, I would dare argue you’re not morally sound, either.

History MUST be not only preserved, INTACT, but TAUGHT to our offspring, FULLY, at levels engaged to ensure that by the time they’re 18, they’re FULLY aware of both the atrocities capable of mankind as well as God’s Saving Grace that allows mankind to chose a far better path than “eye for an eye.”

The Bible itself pulls very few punches with respect to Satan’s atrocities, so why should we? I’m not at all saying we should focus on them, much less dive down into the nitty gritty. Verbiage along the lines of the opening paragraph should be enough at the middle school level.

I am by all means, however, saying we should never shy away from a full disclosure of history ignorance of history absolutely will KILL us along with millions of others in any society so foolish as to adopt a peaches and cream perspective.

The absolute LAST thing we should ever want is for our offspring who weren’t “been there, done that” to come across it, don’t know how to handle it, what to do with it, or worse, repeat it out of ignorance for having failed to learn the hard-won lessons of their forefathers and foremothers. 🙂
