Then and Now

I’m done hunting for the day
All my groceries put away
Kneading dough until I’m tired
I scarf a biscuit, I’m so wired

Some thirty gallons of water from the wells
The tap’s so expensive but still smells
Roasting beast over the fire
But I turn the oven up a bit higher

Between the bearskins I fall to sleep
As the sheets and fleece doeth me keep.
