Ignorant Idiot: “It’s scary when supposed people of science are so quick to throw caution to the wind and force medicine based on relatively new technology on people who don’t want it and likely don’t need it when we don’t even have a year’s worth of results to see if it’s remotely safe.”
As for, “supposed people of science,” I’m a scientist, and I know many scientists. No scientist I know has “thrown caution to the wind and forced medicine based on relatively new technology on people who don’t want it.” In fact, the general consensus among scientists is, “Keep it voluntary, but if it’s proven to be safe, encourage its use.”
As for, “we don’t even have a year’s worth of results,” we do indeed have a year’s worth of results. Trials began on March 16, 2020, more than 14 months ago: First Patient Dosed in Moderna’s COVID-19 Vaccine Trial, published March 16, 2020
As for “to see if it’s remotely safe,” that’s been done, too, with 4,647 deaths out of more than 273,000,000 vaccinations given.
Since the vast majority of humans (including myself) don’t have any innate sense of perspective when it comes to large numbers, let’s put this into perspective:
4,647 deaths out of 273 million vaccinations is a mortality rate of just 0.0017%, or 1 in 58,748 people.
Meanwhile, the mortality rate of Covid-19 in the U.S. clocks in today at 603,382 deaths out of 28,000,943 total resolved cases. That’s 2.2%, or 1 in 46.4 people.
Divide 58,748 by 46.4 and you get 1,265.9, which means the Covid-19 is 1,265.9 times more deadly than the cure aka vaccinations are 1,265.9 times safer than the disease.
Anyone who has ever spent any time in Vegas figuring out how to minimize their losses knows the odds don’t ever get any better than this, so yes, this here scientist has had both of his vaccinations.
As of today, 277,290,173 doses have been given, with 37.51% of Americans being fully vaccinated and 47.59% receiving at least one dose.
Yes, there is indeed a lot of stupidity in this world, but receiving the Covid-19 vaccination most certainly isn’t one of them.
Continuing to decry the vaccinations by repeating ignorant comments like the ones mentioned above, however, falls right in line with the whole lot of stupidity in the world, hand in hand with the “I ain’t wearin’ no mask!” blithering idiocy.
